I am often asked questions involving my prices, travel policies, timelines for delivery, albums, and other wedding coverage details. I’ve compiled the most-asked questions here for you. I hope you find these answers helpful! Please don’t hesitate to contact the studio if you have any questions not answered here. I hope to hear from you soon!
I have been shooting since 2004. I’ve shot newborns in hospitals, in churches, on beaches, on mountaintops, bedrooms, offices, and everywhere in between. I am especially flattered and humbled whenever i am commissioned to document weddings, and i take that responsibility very seriously.
Because your wedding day or portrait session will be in careful hands; because I will put the same amount of care into your wedding or session as I would my own family. My greatest desire is to help alleviate any stress so that you may focus on what’s really important like your loved ones, and help you craft a day that’s truly yours, captured as beautifully as you deserve.
I always respond within 48 hours to let you know whether or not I will be available for your wedding or portrait session. If I haven’t responded within that timeframe, then I did not receive your message. In that case, please email me directly here.
After your initial inquiry, I will consult with you either on the phone or via email to get the full breadth and scope of your wedding or portrait session. We can then schedule a time if you would like to meet in person.
Portrait photography, including maternity and newborn shoots, corporate shoot, headshot, are $300. Weddings begin at $3,000. Detailed rates and collections aren’t available on my site for a variety of reasons: first, rates and collections vary by location. Some weddings outside of the providence/new england area require travel, which would not be included in a local wedding rate. Destination weddings also differ. If you’d like detailed rate information for your wedding, simply drop me an email and I will respond with the information you need!
Payment can be made via Zelle, Cash App, or PayPal. Specific details about how to make payments through those channels will be on your invoice.
No, unfortunately. I cannot “hold” a date without a retainer nor a signed contract. I only accept bookings on a first come/first served basis.
A booking fee or retainer of approx. 50% is required to reserve your date. The remainder will be split into two payments for wedding photography, the balance being due 2 weeks prior to your wedding date. I’ll send you email reminders when your payments are due. With so much already on your plate, I believe this makes things a little easier. For portrait photography, the remainder is due on the date of your session.
Simple answer: yes! For portrait photography, you’ll receive the unedited proofs within 7 days after your session. After you’ve selected the 10 or 20, depending on which package you invested in, they will be edited, and certain ones retouched. For wedding photography, every image that you receive would have been hand-edited, one at a time. I also often select a few favorites for special attention above and beyond the individual image editing.
I live in providence, Rhode Island, but I’ve shot in Ghana, Nice, Paris, and even Cuba. I am quite comfortable traveling for events, and I am willing to go wherever my car or passport will take me. Travel is billed simply: – if airfare and hotel and rental car are needed, all you are responsible for is a direct reimbursement for the charges.
I do not. My specialty is strictly in photography, and I choose to only focus on this discipline so that I can provide you with superlative service.
I have an assistant who serves as both a photographer and an assistant. They occasionally lend a second set of eyes for some of the key moments of the day, while helping with lighting, organizing, and handling logistics of other key parts of your wedding or session.
While understand why you may want this, I don’t provide client references to prospective wedding couples for a few reasons: firstly, any reference from me would be biased since I’d probably (most definitely) choose those I know would speak highly about me or my services! And then, because I respect my clients’ investment in my work and services, I’d never ask a client to market for me on their own time. What I’d recommend is refer to the testimonials on this website or the reviews on my Facebook page.
They can! All images will be delivered in black and white and in color—this way you’ll have options.
For portrait photography, unedited proofs are posted in your online gallery within 7 days after your session, and another 7 days after you’ve made your final selections. Online galleries for wedding photography are posted within six weeks after the wedding date. Your digital files will also be released at this time also. Most albums are ready for delivery within twelve weeks.
Only the unedited proofs for portrait photography. The high-resolution, final, edited files do not bear any watermarks.
There is a set number for portrait photography, which your can refer to in the packages page of the website. The number of photographs taken for weddings, however, depends on many things: number of guests, hours of coverage, hours of dancing, etc. My average for an eight-hour day with a second photographer is 400 images, but those numbers may vary depending on the day itself. Let me hear more about your wedding plans, this would help me provide a more detailed estimate.
You will receive the selected, edited, high-resolution digital files (the digital equivalent of negatives).
The raw, unedited files are not available for viewing or purchase. This is like asking your caterer to give you the ingredients used to prepare your dinner!
This is a question I get asked quite a lot. I’ll try to explain as best as I can: Many photographers include a “copyright release” in their contracts, which usually is the same as a release to have your images printed by yourself, or any lab you choose. That is not the same as obtaining copyright! Copyright means I am the creator of the images, they’re my intellectual property, and I own the rights to them in all the earth. It is not possible to sell or obtain the “copyright” as a client. I hold the copyright to the images and the right to use them for promotional purposes, professional review, and the like. I’d be glad to provide you with a written release allowing you to make unlimited personal reproductions and copies for your friends and families, if requested.
The images not selected aren’t archived and therefore aren’t available. I discard only ones, for example, with eyes-closed, flash misfire, person walking in front of the lens—true outtakes. Rest assured that the images you receive will include the best ones and everything that isn’t an absolute duplicate.
Rehearsal dinner coverage is available at an extra cost if you so wish; otherwise, I don’t attend the rehearsals usually. Prior to the wedding, we talk about the timing and the flow, but rest assured that not attending the rehearsal doesn’t impact your coverage in any way!
Digital files are delivered via direct download in a password protected online image gallery. I do not personally provide prints. Since you will also have access to your digital files, you can order prints yourself at any lab you choose. I also can recommend some labs that I trust!
I am excited to help create wedding albums for my clients because I know they become one of their dearest possessions—a family heirloom of sorts. Album design is included in our platinum package. After you’ve had a chance to view your gallery, we’ll set up a time to skype, facetime or meet in person to finish your design.
The online gallery is a private, password-protected section on my website where all of your wedding photographs or portraits are stored for you and your family and friends to view. You need only provide the password to anyone you want to be able to view the images. It’s also the way we deliver digital files. You’ll have a download option with a pin, and can begin downloading the second you receive the gallery!
Yes, I do. They are included in the wedding packages and I am available to travel for your engagement session. Travel rates may apply to areas outside my geographic location. For questions about your engagement session, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
I do!
Certainly. Please let me know at least two months in advance of the wedding to allow for the insurance company to process and provide that document. Feel free and encouraged to put your venue or your coordinator in touch with me and we can work out those details easily as each venue has different requirements.
I’m a Nikon guy. I’ve been with Nikon since I was in college for what seems like a millennia ago. I use top-of-the-line professional Nikon equipment and variety of backups.
I require full payment prior to your wedding or session. For overtime, album upgrades, etc., beyond your wedding day or portrait contract, however, payment will be due post-wedding. Please contact me with any concerns regarding the payment schedule and I’d be happy to address them.
The retainer guarantees the date exclusively for you. Once you’ve signed the contract, I turn down all other commissions for that date. The retainer fee and all monies paid are therefore non-refundable.
Asap, since I can’t “hold” dates or “pencil you in.” most of my clients contract me within a year of the wedding—sometimes even two months prior, a full calendar year or more in advance.
Yes! I do have an overtime rate which goes into effect with your permission and approval that I continue coverage. I’ll bill you for those hours when you return from your honeymoon.
Though not required contractually, if would be nice if you did and I would really appreciate it since I will be running around for at least 8 hours. Feeding helps me to remain cheerful, mobile, and ensures that I do not faint from starvation. Don’t worry: I’d rather be fed when you are fed anyway, you’re not at your most photogenic when you’re eating. I do bring my own food and water to weddings, just in case.
Certainly. So long as they are aware of and respect my presence, and do not prevent me from doing what I am hired to do, they may snap away from the background.
No. Thou shalt not steal! While I appreciate you using this page to research some questions your clients might need, it would be prudent to try and be original with your own FAQs.
I have a full-time assistant who accompanies me to weddings and portrait sessions. While I appreciate the flattery, I don’t allow anyone to come watch me work.
